€95,000 for Leitrim buildings under the Built Heritage Scheme; projects in Sligo, Donegal also to benefit

Almost €95,000 has been announced for work on a number of buildings in County Leitrim under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme.

It includes €15,000 for Kinlough Catholic Church, €15,000 for Dromahair Goods Shed, more than €12,000 for St Patrick’s Church in Dromahair, and €15,000 for St Mary’s in Glenfarne.

The Built Heritage Scheme provides funding to support owners and custodians of historic and protected structures to safeguard and maintain the properties.

Dr Blaithin Gallagher, constituency spokesperson and national coordinator of the Green Party, says these allocations will have knock-on economic benefits as well as generating jobs for heritage contractors and other skilled crafts and trades workers.

Twenty projects in Sligo and 12 in Donegal are also to benefit from the funding, with individual allocations ranging from €2,300 to €12,000.
