Bree motion seeks update on postal voting probe in Sligo

Sligo county councillors are to ask the Minister for Justice, the Garda Commissioner and the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions if the investigation has been completed into alleged postal vote fraud in the Ballymote/Tubbercurry area during the last local elections.

In July 2019, councillors unanimously called for the investigation to take place.

Last July, garda authorities said a file on the matter was to be forwarded to the DPP.

At their meeting earlier today, Sligo councillors sought an update on what’s happening when they supported a motion from Independent Socialist Councillor Declan Bree.

He says people want to know what’s happening.
