First Sligo connections under National Broadband Ireland

The first 2,100 premises in Co. Sligo can now order or preorder high speed broadband under the National Broadband Plan.

National Broadband Ireland does not supply internet themselves, instead, they lay the required infrastructure for Internet Service Providers to deliver speeds of up to 500 megabits per second.

Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor, Donal Gilroy is welcoming the first connections although he says it has taken three years to deliver the first few thousand premises out of a total 14,000.

Speaking to OceanFM News, he says it will take some time for the final 11,900 to be connected.
