Leitrim Councillor calls for colour coordinated disabled parking places

A Leitrim councillor is calling for all disabled parking spaces to be painted blue.

Sinn Fein Councillor Brendan Barry says people sometimes unknowingly use disabled parking spaces without having the required badge.

But he says that if these spaces were clearly painted in blue, people would immediately realise their mistake on stepping out of their vehicle and then hopefully move to another area, leaving the space for a person entitled to it.

Cllr Barry also says if disabled spaces were painted blue, there would be no doubt but that the driver of a non-authorised vehicle found in such spaces knew they should not have parked there.
