Sligo Rovers sign Amy Roddy

Ballina native Amy Roddy has become the latest player to sign for Sligo Rovers Women’s team ahead of the upcoming Women’s National League.

A central midfielder who can also fill at centre back, Roddy has enjoyed a fine career to date with local side Ballina Town.

Alongside new Rovers teammate Orna O’Dowd, she was the winner of many leagues and cups, including the FAI Intermediate Cup during her time with the Mayo club.

An IT Sligo alumnus, Roddy previously played soccer for her alma matter as well as establishing herself as a Gaelic footballer with Mayo at underage and senior levels.

Roddy has been telling sligorovers.com of her experience with her new team so far: “I’m delighted to be part of the first WNL side, everyone has been so welcoming and professional and the experience so far has been brilliant. I can’t wait to play our first league game to showcase our talent as a newly established team and make our mark in the WNL.”
