Pringle: People with disabilities still affected by stoppage of mobility schemes

A Donegal TD says people with disabilities continue to be affected because of no replacement for mobility allowance schemes that have been stopped for years.

The Motorised Transport Grant and Mobility Allowance schemes were closed in 2013 after the Ombudsman questioned the schemes’ legal status in the context of the Equal Status Acts.

Donegal Independent Deputy Thomas Pringle says people with disabilities in rural areas have been particularly hit by the absence of the schemes.

He has been telling Ocean FM News about the schemes, why they were closed, and how this has been affecting people who need the schemes.
