Local TD joins calls to scrap cancer inpatient charges

A Donegal TD is calling on the Government to scrap inpatient charges for cancer patients, describing the current system of hounding patients for payment “a resounding disgrace”.

Independent TD Thomas Pringle says the €4.3 million that has been thrown into debt collection could have used in elsewhere.

Deputy Pringle says it’s not fair that many people diagnosed with cancer cannot secure a medical card and are not only faced with monetary hurdles, but are also hounded by their own Government for the costs of treatment.
