‘Cost of Living’ Payment could address living costs

A Donegal TD has called for the introduction of a ‘Cost of Living’ Cash Payment to help workers and families with the increasing cost of living.

A package of supports to help with the rising cost of living will be announced by government later.

They’ll likely include an extension to the fuel allowance season and a potential doubling of the 100 euro energy credit.

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Finance, Pearse Doherty says Instead of taking decisive action, the government have p ut their head in the sand and have allowed rents, childcare costs and energy costs to spiral out of control.

He added that the €100 electricity credit per household is not enough to meet the challenge that households are facing.

The Donegal TD is calling for a direct Cost of Living Cash Payments to support workers and families; in addition to making the already announced €100 electricity credit available.
