Two ministers from NW travelling to Poland, Canada for St Patrick’s Day

Two government ministers from the north west will be travelling to Poland and Canada for this year’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Sligo/Leitrim TD and Minister of State Frank Feighan is going to Poland while Agriculture Minister and Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue is travelling to Canada.

Former Minister and Labour party leader Pat Rabbitte says such visits by Government ministers across the world for St Patrick’s Day represents a ‘unique opportunity’ for Ireland.

32 Ministers in total, as well as back-up staff, will travel this March.

Pat Rabbitte says that while cynicism around the overseas trips is to be expected, the resulting benefits in advertising Irish tourism abroad and establishing relations with other countries is ‘unrivalled’.
