A cousin of Tom Niland says there is a sense of terror in the west Sligo area around Skreen after the brutal and savage attack on the 73 year old man last month.
He was viciously beaten in his own home on January 18th after answering a knock on his door about 7pm.
He remains critically ill in hospital.
Gardai earlier this week issued a fresh appeal for any members of the general public that may have information about the attack to come forward.
His first cousin, Michael Walsh, says there’s now fear in the area as gardai continue the hunt for the culprits.
