A Sligo councillor is asking what steps the county council is taking to develop infrastructure at Sligo Harbour in preparation for the development of wind farms off the west coast.
Fine Gael Councillor Tom Fox says the future of offshore wind energy has the potential to become not only a golden opportunity for Sligo Harbour but also the equivalent of Sligo’s North Sea Oil.
Speaking to Ocean FM News following a meeting of Sligo County Council at which he raised the issue, Cllr Fox said there was a need for Sligo to look to the future — and prepare for it now.
