Future of B Braun Hospicare discussed in the Dáil

The loss of 80 jobs at the B Braun Hospicare facility in Collooney in County Sligo was raised in the Dáil yesterday afternoon and is expected to be again discussed in the chamber this morning.

Yesterday, Sligo/Leitrim Independent Deputy Marian Harkin told Taoiseach Michael Martin the announcement of the jobs losses had been ‘a hammer-blow for the workers, their families and the entire community in Collooney.’

Deputy Harkin asked the Taoiseach to raise the matter with Tanaiste Leo Varadkar, who has responsibility for enterprise, trade and employment.

In response, the Taoiseach said the government would do everything it could to help the workers obtain jobs and get alternative employment on the Collooney site.
