Govt. plans for overhaul of planning laws a ‘nonsensical distraction’, says Donegal TD

A Donegal TD has described plans by the government for what is being described as a major overhaul of planning laws as a ‘nonsensical distraction’.

The Irish Independent reports this morning the aim of the overhaul is to reduce legal red tape and speed up the delivery of much-needed new homes.

Junior Planning Minister Peter Burke said he had ‘massive concern’ over the number of judicial reviews of planning decisions.

Minister Burke said proposed changes to the planning laws would result in a slimmed-down planning process to deliver quicker decisions.

However, Donegal Independent TD Thomas Pringle says the solution to speeding up the provision of housing is to provide more money
