Injury-hit Sligo lose in Belfast



Sligo’s Energia All-Ireland Division 2B play-off hopes suffered a setback on Saturday afternoon as they were beaten 32-22 by Belfast Harlequins at Deramore Park.

Four tries for the home team in a wind-assisted second-half gave Quins victory.

Sligo appeared control of the game in the opening half as they established a 15-3 interval lead through tries from skipper Matthew Earley and Gui Coghetto.

However, Josh Reeves side were already carried several injuries going into this game – and the early departures of Rob Holian and Pedro Bengalo proved costly.

Enda Gavin added an early try in the second-half but Quins to their credit, fought their way back into the contest and managed to score four tries in the second period to claim the points.

The result lifts Belfast Harlequins above Sligo in the Division 2B table.
