Sligo’s new Bus Route debated in the Dáil



A Sligo/Leitrim TD has raised the need for a third Sligo town bus route ( ‘S3’) to be established immediately.

 

Deputy Marc MacSharry raised the issue in the Dáil this morning.

 

Deputy MacSharry wants the transport Minister, Eamon Ryan to direct the National Transport Authority and provide the necessary funding to ensure the urgent commencement of the in order to provide essential public transportation to the town.

 

Deputy MacSharry says the NTA have designed the route in question and it now needs modest resources to ensure that the new route moves to an operational phase.

 

In response Junior Minister Butler (who was representing Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan) confirmed that the NTA plans for the S3 route are at an advanced stage and that the National Transport Authority are currently identifying suitable bus stop locations for the new route:

 

 

In response Deputy MacSharry outlined how no further delays in waiting for the service should be inflicted on the people of Sligo Town who have waited a long time for the introduction of this new service.
