Donegal TD dismayed with lack of protection for LGBTI community

A Donegal TD has told the Council of Europe that politicians across the continent must do more to support the LGBTI Community.

Independent TD, Thomas Pringle, says hate crime against LGBTI people is on the rise.

Deputy Pringle took part in a Council of Europe debate on the issue yesterday.

The Donegal TD says Ireland does not yet have specific legislation on hate crime and that there have been problems when it comes to the reporting of various crime figures.

He also said there is a responsibility to address the ever increasing number of attacks on minority groups on social media.
