Works to begin this week on Enniskillen Southern Bypass

The road link from Sligo and Leitrim, passing Enniskillen into Northern Ireland, is set to be dramatically improved with work due to start this week on a long-awaited €30m project south of the Fermanagh capital.

The Enniskillen Southern Bypass will link the A4 Dublin Road to the A4 Sligo road via the A509 Derrylin Road.

Local SDLP Councillor Adam Gannon said that when completed, the bypass will not only shorten journey times but will also make the route safer due to traffic measures that will reduce accidents and injuries.

Cllr Gannon said there will also be a cycleway and footway for the full length of the bypass.

He added that the project has been discussed for decades.
