€11m for active travel projects in the north west

Almost €11m has been allocated for active travel projects in the north west.

The aim of the grants is to encourage people exercise on the variety of walkways and cycleways now being developed and promoted in the region.

€5.6m is going to projects in Donegal, €3.2m to Sligo and more than €2m to Leitrim.

Minister of State and Sligo/Leitrim TD Frank Feighan says it’s money that will help boost health and well-being, which is part of his responsibility.

Donegal Fianna Fail Councillor Michael Naughton says about €750,000 is coming to south Donegal.
