326 people waiting for hospital bed in the north west this week

15% of all patients waiting for a hospital bed in the country this week have been based in the north west.

326 people have been on trolleys in Sligo and Letterkenny University Hospitals since Monday which includes 74 across both hospitals today.

2,150 patients have been on trolleys nationally since the beginning of the week.

The high waiting figures has prompted The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation to call for all non-emergency activity to be curtailed in acute hospitals.
