SF Cllr welcomes scrapping of plans to bring back dual mandate in the North



A Sinn Fein MLA has welcomed the news that moves to allow Northern Ireland politicians to double-job are to be scrapped.

 

Such changes would have allowed MPs to be elected as MLAs in May’s Stormont elections, and hold both positions until the next Westminster election.

 

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson ruled out the plan yesterday.

 

Fermanagh South Tyrone MLA Jemma Dolan says it’s something that Sinn Fein have always been opposed to and says there is no was the double jobbing model would have worked.
