Signs Omicron wave may have peaked says Donegal GP



A Donegal GP says there are positive signs that the country may have passed the peak of the Omicron wave.

67 patients are receiving treatment for Covid-19 in the north west’s two main hospitals today.

Latest HSE figures show 45 are in Letterkenny University Hospital and 22 in Sligo University Hospital.

There are also two Covid patients in the ICU in both hospitals.

Nationally there are 910 people in a hospital with the virus 93 of whom are in an ICU.

The number of Covid patients in hospital has dropped by 14 per cent over the past nine days.

34 people are also waiting for a bed in Letterkenny and 31 in Sligo out of a national total of 471 according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s Trolley Watch.

Donegal GP Ciarán Ó Fearraigh (PRON: Farry) says it’s another sign we’ve passed the peak of the Omicron wave.
