Fears Mica redress scheme could lead to more homelessness in the region

There are fears the Mica redress scheme could lead to further homelessness in the north west unless more supports are introduced.

That’s the view of the Manager of the North West Simon Community, Noel Daly, who says there are a number of reasons for this such as the price of houses increasing and the actual supply not being enough to meet current demand.

He fears when mica impacted families have to look for temporary accomodation, there won’t be enough to meet that demand either.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Noel Daly says he recently searched to see what properties are available in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal and says he found only 55 in total.
