The Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team had their first callout of 2022 yesterday when they provided assistance to a hiker that sustained a lower limb injury on the northern slopes of BenBulben Mountain in Co. Sligo.
It’s understood the injured person was part of a couple holidaying in Sligo the incident took place when after one of them fell and suffered an injury.
The coastguard helicopter based in Strandhill was also involved in the rescue operation.
The casualty was airlifted to Sligo University hospital where they are receiving treatment for their injuries.
