Local TD fears schools will find it difficult to fully reopen this week

A Sligo Leitrim TD is warning that schools face a major challenge when it comes to re-opening after the Christmas break with Covid-19 numbers currently so high.

The Teachers Union of Ireland claim there isn’t a ‘one-size fits all’ method to reopening schools.

Representatives from the teaching unions will meet with Department of Education officials today ahead of the planned reopening of schools on Thursday.

Another union, the ASTI, has called for a staggered reopening at a time when many staff are isolating.

Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny says the current spike in numbers is impacting all schools
