All Ireland Rail review could benefit Sligo

A Sligo Councillor has described the all-Ireland review of the rail service as ‘a long-awaited opportunity for the public to have their say on how the railway network can benefit the passenger, the environment and the wider economy’.

The strategic all Ireland review has been launched by Minister Ryan and by Infrastructure Minister Nicola Mallon in the Stormont Assembly.

Sligo Sinn Féin Councillor Thomas Healy is urging the public to take part in the review adding that  the initiative will look at the future of the rail service over the entire island.

He says Sligo is in a unique position as it is at the end of the Dublin line and at a potential junction for the western rail corridor.
