McConalogue brings CAP plan to Cabinet

The Minister for Agriculture, Donegal TD Charlie McConlogue will today present the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) plan to his cabinet colleagues.

The plan, which must be submitted for ratification to the European Commission before the end of the year, will see €9.8bn in funding made available to 130,000 farm families.

This CAP plan will ringfence 25% of direct payments for environmental measures.

Chairman of the Irish Beef and Lamb Association, Leitrim farmer Patrick Rooney says the deal must include all farmers.
