Letterkenny University Hospital most overcrowded nationally



Letterkenny University Hospital is the most overcrowded hospital in the country today.

It’s the 25th consecutive day it’s been the most or second most overcrowded nationally.

Letterkenny has been one the worst impacted since the 15th of November according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s Trolley Watch figures.

52 people are waiting in the Donegal hospital today; 13 in the emergency department and 39 in wards elsewhere.

There are also 16 Covid-19 patients receiving treatment in Letterkenny today with two in Intensive Care while there is one ICU bed available.

The numbers waiting in Sligo University Hospital is also high today with 30 patients waiting for a bed.

There are eight Covid patients in Sligo, none of whom are in the ICU, however, there are also no ICU beds available in the hospital according to the latest HSE figures..

In total, there are 391 patients waiting for a bed in Irish hospitals today.

There are also 532 Covid patients 118 of whom are in ICU.
