Funding Boost for Sligo to Enniskillen Greenway

Additional funding has been announced in Northern Ireland for a number of greenways including the Sligo to Enniskillen Greenway.

In total an additional £2 million will be made available for Councils to assist them with active travel schemes and greenway projects.

187, 000 pounds is being allocated to Fermanagh and Omagh Councils under the scheme for design work on the Fermanagh part of the Enniskillen to Sligo Greenway.

The proposed Greenway will run along the route of the old railway from Sligo to Enniskillen passing through Belcoo.

The Councils have also been awarded £106,000 pounds for Active Travel Projects.

Sinn Féin MLA Jemma Dolan says the funding will benefit tourism right across the local region on both sides of the border.
