Snow predicted for north west tomorrow morning

Met Eireann says the worst of the weather for Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal will be in the morning of Tuesday the 7th of December.

A status Yellow Weather Warning is in place for the region from 2am ahead of Storm Barra making landfall with the forecaster predicting wind speeds of up to 80 km/h and gusts in excess of 130km/h.

That warning will remain until 6pm Wednesday while separate Orange and Red Weather warnings have also been issued for parts in the South, West and East of Ireland.

Coastal flooding is expected along the west and north west coast due to a combination of high waves, storm surge and high tide.

Power outages are expected in many parts of the country.

Met Eireann forecaster, Liz Walsh, says snow followed by strong winds is being predicted for parts of the region.
