1,329 children in the region awaiting first assessment for occupational therapy

1,329 children across the HSE’s CHO1 area, which includes, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal, are waiting for a first assessment for occupational therapy.

Figures released to Sinn Fein show there are over 18,000 children waiting nationally.

Sligo/Leitrim Sinn Fein TD, Martin Kenny says rural ireland has a ‘postcode lottery’ when it comes occupational therapy services for children.

Deputy Kenny says more staff are needed before the situation gets worse.
