Sligo lose to league leaders Greystones

Sligo senior men’s rugby team lost 48-17 to leaders Greystones in Division 2B of the Energia All-Ireland League at Dr Hickey Park in Wicklow on Saturday.

Greystones had won all seven of their league games going into this fixture and they dominated Sligo in the opening half, scoring five tries to establish a 41-0 interval lead.

To their credit, Josh Reeves’ side improved in the second half and crossed the try line on three occasions through Rob Holian, Guilherme Coghetto and Stefano Giantorno.

However, as Sligo searched for a fourth try which would have earned them a bonus point, an interception allowed Greystones through for a late try which was the game’s final score.

Sligo will attempt to return to winning ways next Saturday when they host Galwegians at Hamilton Park in Strandhill.

Saturday’s Division 2B results
