Former Sligo Rovers manager Paul Cook was sacked by English League One side Ipswich Town on Saturday after just nine months in the job.

His departure came following the club’s 0-0 draw at home to Barrow in the FA Cup second-round. Paul Cook following Saturday’s FA Cup second-round goalless draw at home to Barrow.Paul Cook following Saturday’s FA Cup second-round goalless draw at home to Barrow.

Cook was appointed last March but won just 13 of his 44 games in charge.

Ipswich are currently 11th in League One.

Cook is Town’s fourth manager since former Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy left the role in 2018.

During his five years at the Showgrounds, Cook guided Sligo Rovers to back-to-back FAI Cups, a League Cup and a third-place finish in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

He subsequently managed Accrington Stanley, Chesterfield, Portsmouth and Wigan Athletic before moving onto his short-lived spell with Ipswich.
