RNLI advise people to stay away from the water ahead of Storm Arwen



The RNLI are advising people to stay away from the water during Storm Arwen.

A Status Yellow warning for high winds has been issued for Donegal and a seperate one for Sligo and Mayo ahead of Storm Arwen.

The warnings are valid from 3pm this afternoon with Met Eireann predicting wind speeds of upto 65 km/hr and gusts of up to 110 km/hr through the day and into early Saturday morning.

The forecaster says there is a chance of wave and spray overtopping along north facing coasts at times of high tide on Friday night.

The warnings remains until 5am Saturday for Sligo and Mayo and until 6am Saturday for Donegal.
