Connacht FBD League moves indoors

Sligo and Leitrim senior gaelic footballers will play each other in the opening game of the 2022 Connacht FBD League – in the province’s new €3.1 million Air Dome.

It will be the first senior competitive intercounty fixture staged at an indoor venue on the island of Ireland.

However, it won’t be the first GAA intercounty fixture played under a roof. In 1990, Dublin and Tyrone footballers played each other in Toronto’s Skydome for the ‘Canada Cup’.

Connacht’s GAA Dome is also set to host the GAA’s Annual Congress and National Coaching Conference in the New Year.

John Prenty, Secretary of Connacht GAA, spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Austin O’Callaghan.
