Young people in the north west urged to register to vote



The National Youth Council of Ireland is encouraging eligible young people across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal to register to vote before next week’s deadline; Thursday the 25th of November.

Using Central Statistics Office data, the NYC say over 7,000 people across the north west have turned 18 since the last general election.

The figure is 882 in Leitrim, 1,688 in Sligo and 4,614 in Donegal.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Deputy Director at the National Youth Council of Ireland, James Doorley, says it’s vital young people vote to have their say and explains how to register.
