Remembrance event takes place place in Sligo



The annual service of remembrance in memory of Sligo’s war dead took place this morning.

The service is held at the Cenotaph on Pearse Road, and held to remember the men and women from Sligo Town and County who served and died in the First and Second World Wars.
Members of families of the soldiers attended the ceremony and laid wreaths at the Cenotaph.
Among those in attendance was the Mayor of Sligo, Sinn Fein councillor, Arthur Gibbons, whose two grandfathers fought in the World Wars.
