Opening the Collooney Claremorris rail line will lead to investment and Jobs

A Sligo Councillor is claiming that the government’s failure to deliver on transport infrastructure in the north west is leading to a situation where the region could loose on further investment and potential jobs.

Cllr Thomas Healy is calling for a train service between Collooney and Claremorris, a service that last ran in 1975 to be reintroduced.

He says opening this line has the potential to attract a large number of visitors to the region.

The Sligo Drumcliff Councillor says the restoration to the train line would also attract Irish and multinational companies to invest in the north west and connect with ports in Galway, Cork and Waterford as well as Ireland West and Shannon Airports.
