Donegal TD claims reports of mica redress caps are ‘unhelpful’

A Donegal TD says he is unaware of any caps being placed on the amount of redress that will be offered to those impacted by MICA or Pyrite.

Deputy McHugh was reacting to the news on OceanFM that the amount of redress on offer could be capped at 400,000 euro.

Deputy McHugh also confirmed in the interview that he is considering his future in the Fine Gael party due to the ongoing issue of Mica and the redress scheme for people in Donegal.  The Fine Gael TD says it’s vital that whatever scheme is decided on is fair to all parties.

In relation to his own future Deputy McHugh confirmed that any decision to leave the party would be one he would not take lightly.  However he added that he has a manifesto to represent the people of Donegal and that the issue of Mica was above politics

The former Education says he is unaware of any cap on compensation.  He says the reporting of such fingers is unhelpful at this time as the full details of the scheme are still unknown.
