42 medical card holders in Donegal waiting six months or more for initial assessment

42 medical card holders in Donegal, out of a national total of 233, have been waiting at least six months for an initial assessment for counselling.

A further 1,610 have been waiting between four and six months around the country.

New figures, released under the Freedom of Information Act, show just under 4,000 people are waiting for an initial assessment.

Brendan Kelly, a professor of psychiatry in Trinity College Dublin, says the waiting lists are a concern.
