Kenny questions necessity of gold mining in north west

The issue of gold mining in North Leitrim was debated in the Dáil once again this morning.

Sligo Leitrim Sinn Finn TD Martin Kenny raised the topic with the Minister of State at the Department of Expenditure and Reform Oisin Smith.

Deputy Kenny called on the Green party Minister to ensure the Ireland moved away from a process where heavy metals and minerals were excavated from the earth and also questioned the necessity of even considering why a luxury product such as gold should even be considered for mining.
