A Donegal TD is describing as ‘too little too late’ the moves by the Housing Minister to bring legislation to cabinet to cap rent increases at 2%
Landlords will only be able to raise rents by the rate of inflation or a maximum of 2% whichever is lower.
It’s expected the legislation will come into effect by the end of the year.
Independent TD for Donegal Thomas Pringle says any increases imposed by landlords will ultimately led to hardship for tenants and the possibility of even more people being evicted from their homes.
