Farmers urged to cut emissions and watch income grow

The Agriculture Minister a says he doesn’t accept over 50, 000 farmers jobs are in danger because of Ireland’s greenhouse emission targets.

Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue says farmers’ incomes could actually increase under plans to cut emissions.

The Donegal TD made the comments ahead of the Taoiseach addressing the Cop26 climate conference in Scotland today.

He’s expected to pledge 225 million a year by 2025 to help poorer countries with climate change.

Minister McConalogue doesn’t feel thousands of rural jobs are on the line as Ireland responds to climate change.
