Calls for Housing Assistance payments to be increased in Leitrim



 

A Leitrim Councillor is urging the local authority to address the current rate of Housing Assistance payments that are being paid in the county.

 

Today’s meeting of the local authority will hear calls from a Drumshanbo Councillor requesting them to contact the Housing Minster, Darragh O’Brien in relation to increasing HAP rent limits to a level that reflects what is currently been paid for rental properties.

 

The rent limits for Leitrim have not changed since 2016.

 

The rent limit for couple with 3 children is €500, yet two & three bed houses are being advertised in the county for €850 and €900 per month.
