Gardaí have recovered thousands of cannabis laced chocolate bars this week after armed officers conducted a major search in the Cranmore area of Sligo on Wednesday last.
A convicted drug dealer was arrested before being released without charge.
The raid was describe as “one of the most unusual drug seizures” in recent times.
It has not yet been established the exact value of the seized bars but it is estimated to be at least €10,000.
The planned operation targeted a known criminal and the chocolate bars were discovered in a property linked to the suspect.
The drug dealer was arrested at the scene and a file on the case will now be prepared for the DPP.
