Letterkenny hospital among most overcrowded in country again today



Letterkenny and Limerick University Hospitals are the second most overcrowded in the country today with 50 patients waiting for a bed in each.

Only University Hospital Galway, with 54 patients waiting, is higher.

In Letterkenny, 13 of the waiting patients are in the emergency department, with 37 in wards and elsewhere.

There are 28 patients waiting in Sligo University, nineteen of whom are in the emergency department.

Overall throughout the country, 499 hospital patients are waiting for beds, according to today’s figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
