Vaccination centres in Sligo, Donegal, this weekend

Over 7,000 people have signed up for a Covid-19 vaccine in the past four days.

The HSE says it’s a big increase on recent weeks, when there was an average of 800 to 1,000 a day.

Nearly 40 walk-in clinics are operating throughout the country over the bank holiday weekend.

Walk-in Covid-19 vaccination centres will be open in Sligo and Donegal this Bank Holiday weekend offering the Pfizer/Biontech jab for those aged 12 and older.

The centre at the Racecourse in Sligo Town will operate from 1pm to 7.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday.

The vaccine will be offered at the Community Assessment Hub in Letterkenny from 10.15am to 4.30pm today and Sunday and from 10.15am to 5.30pm on Monday.

People who have already received the first dose on or before the 4th of October are eligible for the second, while the booster vaccination programme is underway across the region.

Those aged 80 and older are eligible along with people aged 65 and over who are living in long term residential care.

The HSE’s vaccination lead, Damien McCallion, from Sligo, says he’s pleased with the trend this week.
