Letterkenny hospital most overcrowded in country today



Letterkenny University Hospital is the most overcrowded in the country today.

Across the two main hospitals in the north west today, a total of 62 people are waiting for a bed.

46 patients are waiting on trolleys or chairs in Letterkenny today, 8 in the emergency department and 38 in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

16 people are waiting in Sligo University Hospital with 13 in the emergency department and 3 elsewhere.

Last month was the worst September for Letterkenny University Hospital when it came to overcrowding with a total of 821 patients waiting throughout the month; 672 people have been forced to wait so far in October.

The figure is half that in Sligo University Hospital this month, with 335.
