Donegal GP supports rollout of carbon monoxide monitors

A Donegal GP says carbon monoxide monitors in schools will help alert teachers that the quality of air in a classroom may be poor and that more ventilation is required.

It’s costing 4 million euro to send carbon dioxide monitors to every school in the country, to prevent the spread of Covid.

The Department of Education started delivering 35,000 monitors at the end of August, to check ventilation in classrooms.

Primary schools are getting up to 20 each, and secondary schools are receiving up to 35.

Dr Denis McCauley, from the Irish Medical Organisation, supports the rollout of the monitors.
