Two years jail for man who attacked Leitrim LGBT+ activist



A man who attacked a County Leitrim LGBT+ activist at an anti-lockdown rally in Dublin last year has been jailed for two years.

Michael Quinn, of Malone Flats, Market Street, Ardee, Co Louth, pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to Ruth O’Rourke, also known as Izzy Kamikaze.

The 30-year-old hit her in the side of the head with a large wooden post which had a tricolour flag attached to it.

Ms O’Rourke, who had attended a demonstration earlier that day in support of frontline health workers, said the crowd at the rally turned on her:
