Local Restaurateur rejects Restaurants Association’s criticism of Budget

A Sligo Restaurateur and former President of the Restaurants Association is questioning the organisation over their response to yesterday’s budget.

The Restaurants Association of Ireland described Budget 2022 as being disastrous,  showing no ambition to stimulate the tourism industry, and were particularly critical of the decision to end the  9% VAT in August 2022.

CEO Adrian Cummins also called for Wage supports to remain in place warning that the hospitality industry faces a challenging five years to restore levels of business to that of pre-Covid.

Sligo Restaurateur Anthony Gray says the 9%VAT was always going to end and he claims pandemic payments are adding to the difficulty that the sector is facing when it comes to attracting workers.
